Advice Before Mediation (High Asset Divorce / Property & Business Interests)
I am looking for a highly experienced UK family lawyer (preferably 15–20+ years experience, partner level solicitor or barrister) for a paid consultation to help me understand my position before entering financial mediation.
This is not a request to formally instruct a solicitor for ongoing litigation at this stage. I am looking for strategic advice to understand my position and prepare for mediation.
Background:
• Married approx. 8 years • Two children (aged 6 and 2) • MIAM mediation process currently starting • I would ideally like to move toward shared parenting over time
Financial situation is more complex than a typical case and includes:
• Multiple property investments • Some assets acquired before the marriage • Property refurbishments and development projects • Company interests (trading business in health products sector) • Loans including family loans and commercial project loans • Rental income and mortgages across several properties
I would like advice on:
Likely financial settlement range in a case like this
How courts typically treat non-matrimonial assets (assets acquired before marriage)
How business interests are treated in divorce
How property portfolios and associated debt are assessed
Impact of shared parenting vs primary residence on financial outcomes
Strategy for approaching financial mediation
Risks I should be aware of before financial disclosure
I am looking for:
• A UK qualified family solicitor or barrister • Significant experience in financial remedy cases • Experience with property portfolios and business assets • Straightforward, pragmatic advice
Format:
• Initial consultation via Zoom or phone • Approximately 60–90 minutes • Happy to pay an appropriate professional fee for the right expertise
Please include:
• Your years of experience • Your current role (partner / solicitor / barrister etc.) • Experience with complex financial remedy cases
Location is not important as consultation will be remote.
