I’m a Dubai-based author building a growing lifestyle brand focused on practical, witty, common-sense advice for everyday life: from money and relationships to travel and modern etiquette. It’s the kind of fun, feel-good book you can dip into for a few minutes, gift to someone, or keep on your coffee table for a laugh and a bit of wisdom.
I’m looking for a Creative Marketing Manager / Social Media Strategist to help me grow the brand across Instagram and LinkedIn and build awareness of the wider ecosystem around it.
You’ll take the lead on strategy, planning, and execution, with fortnightly check-ins to review progress and ideas.
Scope & Commitment: - Around 2–4 hours per week, depending on workflow. - Fully remote, but ideally with some awareness of the Dubai media/PR scene. - Fortnightly strategy calls for updates and next steps. - Long-term, monthly rolling arrangement.
Instagram: The goal for Instagram is to grow a loyal, engaged community, not just followers. Every post should be something people want to tag their friends in, screenshot, or save, because it makes them laugh, nod, or feel a little wiser. The focus is on creating shareable, scroll-stopping content that blends humour, insight, and relatability, building both awareness and affection for the Common Sense brand. It’s about growth through connection.
You’ll be responsible for: -Developing and executing a growth strategy for Instagram aligned with the brand tone. -Creating engaging, shareable posts (quotes, carousels, reels, stories) inspired by the book’s themes, without giving all 120 tips away. -Writing clever, relatable captions that blend humour and insight. -Keeping up with trending formats, audios, and hashtags and adapting them creatively to fit the brand voice. -Repurposing the book’s content thoughtfully, teasing rather than revealing. -Suggesting fresh ideas for engagement, collaborations, and partnerships. -Incorporating voiceovers or light behind-the-scenes moments (no face required). -Reviewing performance analytics and proposing improvements each month.
LinkedIn: The goal for LinkedIn is to build visibility, credibility, and genuine connection. This platform should position Common Sense as a smart, relatable voice in lifestyle and personal growth, one that professionals, readers, and media actually want to follow.
It’s not just about posting; it’s about growing an audience that values insight and authenticity. The focus is on follower growth, thoughtful engagement, and strategic visibility i.e., connecting with authors, book lovers, and industry voices, while quietly opening doors for media features, bookstore interest, and collaborations.
You’ll be responsible for: -Managing and growing the Common Sense LinkedIn page (separate from my personal account). -Writing short, smart, and engaging posts that blend wit, warmth, and real-life observations. -Sharing snippets and reflections inspired by the book (I don't want it to sound like ads). -Positioning the brand as a relatable voice in lifestyle, self-development, and modern wisdom (but still funny / sassy). -Staying aware of LinkedIn trends and tone, tailoring content to resonate with professionals and everyday readers alike. - Monitoring analytics, engagement, and follower growth. - Suggesting collaborations, features, and visibility opportunities within LinkedIn.
One small disclaimer: I don’t want content that sounds AI-generated or overly polished. The brand voice should feel human, clever, and naturally conversational.
Other Responsibilities: -Act as my brand director, someone who grows with the Common Sense brand, not just manages accounts. -Take ownership of overall marketing direction and growth, bringing ideas beyond Instagram and LinkedIn. -Have awareness of book fairs, lifestyle events, and exhibitions in Dubai that I can attend and capture photos / videos for you to repurpose into strong brand content. - Have fortnightly meetings with me to review results thus far, plan next steps, and share ideas (creative campaigns, collaborations, giveaways, PR angles, and new ways to build visibility) or local opportunities. -Treat this as a monthly rolling collaboration, we’ll review progress regularly, and if it’s working well for both of us, we’ll continue long-term.
