Summary About Ballr Ballr is building a first-of-its-kind platform for the amateur soccer community. Our app connects players, team owners, and tournament managers — making it easier to form teams, find talent, manage rosters, and run verified competitions. We’re a fast-moving startup with a big vision: to become the hub for grassroots soccer.
Role Overview We’re looking for a hands-on, entrepreneurial App Developer to help bring Ballr to life. You’ll be responsible for building and iterating our mobile app (React Native or similar framework) from MVP to launch and beyond. You’ll work directly with the founders to define functionality, ensure smooth user experiences, and build scalable, reliable software that our community can trust.
Responsibilities
Develop, test, and deploy Ballr’s mobile app (initial MVP and future iterations).
Translate requirements for three main user types (players, owners, tournament managers) into intuitive features.
Build core functionality such as:
Player/Team profiles and search.
Messaging and connection features.
Tournament posting, sign-ups, and roster management.
ID verification and anti-duplicate player checks.
Ensure secure handling of user data.
Collaborate with the founders on product strategy, feature prioritisation, and timelines.
Maintain clean, scalable, and well-documented code.
Stay up-to-date on best practices for mobile development, performance, and security.
Qualifications
Proficiency with React Native (or strong background in iOS/Android development and willingness to use React Native).
Experience with backend integration (Node.js, Firebase, or similar).
Knowledge of databases, APIs, and authentication flows.
Familiarity with UI/UX principles and ability to design smooth user experiences.
Comfort working in a startup environment — fast-paced, collaborative, and resource-conscious.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to own projects end-to-end.
Bonus: Experience with sports, gaming, or community platforms.
