Expected duration: 3 - 4 weeks I'm looking for a developer to help with an existing trading algorithm written in Pine Script. The goal is to optimize the code for performance, backtest its strategy, and set it up for automated trading on a private server.
The Situation
I have an 800-line trading algorithm that uses a variety of technical indicators, including RSI, stochastics, moving averages, and a proprietary "Market symmetry" indicator. The algorithm's core strategy is to identify a "Master sentiment" using weighted indicators and then find trading opportunities that align with that sentiment. The backtesting and live data will be for crypto-based trading accounts, but the tool should be able to be applied to any tradable market.
The Challenges
The primary issue is that the current code takes too long to run, exceeding TradingView's runtime limits (over one minute). This is likely because many of the standard indicators are written directly into the main strategy code rather than being called separately. When older versions of the algorithm did run, the trading rules were too strict, resulting in very few trades during backtesting.
The Solutions
The main solution is to refactor the code to improve its efficiency. This would involve separating the standard indicators from the main strategy code. The project would also require extensive backtesting and optimization. We need to backtest the algorithm for at least 3-5 years, and test and optimize each of the individual indicators (RSI, stochastics, etc.) to find the best settings and weighting for the overall strategy. The goal is for the backtesting to produce more frequent and profitable trades.
The End Result
The final deliverable would be a fully automated trading algorithm that runs on a private server. The server must be capable of running the algorithm without delay or interruption, with near 100% uptime, and be able to handle multiple instances of a trading terminal (like Metatrader 4/5) and the algorithm. The developer would also need to help us figure out the best way to connect the algorithm to a non-KYC crypto broker account, likely via an API or a signal service.
