I need a lightweight Android background app (“SMS Bridge”) that lets me fully control and monitor SMS on multiple company-owned phones from a secure web admin panel.
Scope:
1. Android SMS Bridge App - Installable on each phone (same APK). - Must be set as default SMS app to capture and send SMS. - Functions: >> Receive all incoming SMS → send to backend in real time (via HTTPS or WebSocket). >> Send SMS from backend commands silently. >> Detect incoming/missed calls → trigger auto-SMS reply (preset message). >> Heartbeat: send battery %, signal strength, online/offline status every few minutes. - Auto-start on boot and ignore battery optimization so it always runs. - Secure authentication with backend (per-device token or certificate). - Stable on Android 8+.
2. Backend API (basic) - Endpoints to receive incoming SMS and call events from phones. - Endpoint to queue/send SMS to a specific phone. - Device registry (ID, status, last heartbeat). - Basic admin view to test sending/receiving (does not need full UI).
Deliverables: - APK of the SMS Bridge app. - Backend API (Node.js or Python preferred) with basic device/message storage. - Documentation for installing the app, granting permissions, and connecting to backend.
Notes: - Phones are owned by me (no BYOD issues). - No call audio — only call event detection and SMS auto-reply. - Must run reliably in background without user interaction after setup. - Developer should have proven experience with Android background services, SMS API usage, and battery optimization handling.
