Expected duration: Ongoing We’re actively recruiting Assistant Chartered Structural Engineers to join our nationwide network of freelance professionals. This is a flexible, on-demand, project-based role supporting our UK-wide client base with a variety of structural design and assessment work.
Working independently in your local area while collaborating remotely with our in-office team, you'll play a critical role in delivering safe, compliant, and efficient structural solutions.
Key Responsibilities Support the development of structural designs and engineering solutions in collaboration with senior engineers
Assist in structural analysis, calculations, and preparation of design reports
Conduct site inspections to assess structural integrity and gather necessary project data
Create and manage structural drawings using AutoCAD and other design software
Ensure all designs comply with UK building regulations and structural codes
Participate in the preparation of construction documentation, specifications, and tender packages
Integrate sustainable engineering practices where applicable
Stay informed about advancements in materials, methods, and structural technologies
Requirements Experience working in the UK as a Structural Engineer, ideally on the pathway to or recently Chartered (IStructE or ICE)
Strong knowledge of UK structural engineering standards and building regulations
Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Revit, Tekla, or analysis software is a plus
Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills
Full UK driving license (essential)
Able to work independently and carry out site visits confidently
Comfortable coordinating with multidisciplinary teams remotely
