Description: I'm looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Product Designer / Prototyping Specialist to help turn a 2D visual concept into a fully thought-out, manufacturable 3D design. The project involves designing a premium casing and integrating custom-shaped perspex/acrylic slats that house a luxury object.
You will be responsible for:
Translating an existing 2D visual (provided upon appointment) into a complete 3D CAD design suitable for prototyping
Designing a robust casing that can be opened and closed with practical, elegant fittings
Developing a working solution for how the perspex/acrylic slats and internal components are suspended or fixed
Ensuring all parts, materials, tolerances, and assembly logic are manufacturable and production-ready
Recommending the best prototyping techniques and materials for short-run production
Collaborating to refine and optimise any weak points in the concept for real-world durability and finish
Skills & Experience Required:
Strong experience in product/industrial design, especially in luxury goods, packaging, or limited-edition objects
Proven track record of taking products from sketch or 2D visual to physical prototype
Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, etc.)
Knowledge of perspex/acrylic fabrication and suitable fixing mechanisms
Familiarity with prototyping methods (CNC, laser cutting, 3D printing, etc.)
An appreciation for detail, luxury aesthetics, and engineering precision
Deliverables:
Final 3D CAD file(s) of the entire casing + internal parts
Technical drawings with dimensions and material suggestions
Exploded view showing fixings and assembly logic
Recommendation on prototyping partner/materials if available
Please include examples of similar high-end product work in your application. A sharp eye for detail, material knowledge, and problem-solving is essential.
