Through careful modification including extending foundation lines and adding additional exterior walls and windows, the photographs should schematically represent the scaled extension. Attention must be paid to maintaining visual symmetry and proportion. Nature and hard landscaping elements within view of the proposed works must remain unaltered to provide an authentic representation. The adjusted photographs will communicate to local planning authorities the scale and massing of additions relative to the neighboring dwelling visible in one image. This simulated ‘before and after’ comparison aims to substantiate that the extension conceptualization respects spatial relationships and avoids any undue sense of enclosure or overshadowing upon the adjacent property. Adjoining details should not be modified or omitted and the compositional framing of each photograph must stay consistent.
