Salary- £13.50 ph Commission- £10 per participant successfully signed up, who attend the programme and engage for its duation
Job Summary: The Street Outreach Worker is responsible for engaging with individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, or other social challenges in public spaces. This role involves providing immediate support, connecting individuals to community resources, and building trusting relationships to encourage long-term wellbeing and stability. The Street Outreach Worker will work collaboratively with community partners to offer essential services such as shelter, food, healthcare, and other supportive services. Key Responsibilities: • Outreach and Engagement: o Conduct regular street outreach in designated areas to engage with individuals who are homeless, at risk, or in need of support. o Build rapport and establish trust with individuals through respectful, non-judgemental, and empathetic interactions. o Assess the immediate needs of individuals and provide support in accessing resources. • Resource Referral and Support: o Connect individuals to local shelters, healthcare, mental health services, addiction treatment programmes, and other community resources. o Assist individuals in navigating services and programmes, ensuring they understand their rights and options. o Provide information on available housing, job placement, legal support, and other relevant services. • Case Management: o Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, case notes, and service referrals. o Follow up on individuals previously engaged to ensure ongoing support and service connection. o Work with the outreach team and other professionals to develop tailored case plans. • Collaboration: o Work with local authorities, community organisations, social services, and law enforcement to address street-based issues. o Participate in regular team meetings and case reviews to ensure coordination and continuity of services. • Crisis Intervention: o Provide immediate crisis intervention and de-escalation in situations of high distress. o Safely assess and manage individuals in crisis, involving appropriate emergency services when necessary. Qualifications: • Experience in street outreach, social work, or a related field (1-2 years preferred). • Knowledge of local services and resources for homelessness, addiction, mental health, and other social services. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations. • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively. • A non-judgemental, compassionate approach to working with vulnerable populations. • Familiarity with health and safety protocols, particularly in outreach or field-based work. Preferred Skills/Experience: • Experience working with marginalised or underserved communities. • First Aid and CPR certification. • Knowledge of harm reduction principles and practices. • Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation (if applicable).
Working Conditions: • Schedule: Flexible, with evening and weekend hours as required. • Location: Primarily field-based, with occasional office or meeting-based work.
