Expected duration: 1 - 2 weeks As a non-profit student newspaper currently hosted on Wix, we need to move our web presence to Wordpress. As you may know, it is near impossible to automatically migrate or export articles and content from Wix sites in a format usable on other platforms.
It's essential that we retain our library of c. 3000 articles so that they remain accessible on our new platform. We have decided to do this by taking PDF 'prints' of each article from the Wix site, which we can then upload, index and embed within in our new Wordpress site.
The task we are hiring here for is simple, but quite large. The protocol is as follows:
1. Go to our Wix website home page. 2. Access an article category (eg News) 3. For EACH and EVERY individual article/story in the category: a. Load full page in browser b. Use browser 'Print to PDF' function to save article as a PDF, in accordance with specifications provided c. Save PDF to Google Drive according to instructions provided d. Review PDF to ensure successful save, with all images intact, etc & correct any issues e. Repeat with next article on the website
We would recommend that you practice the process on a web page of your choice, following the instructions as outlined in the attached document, to see how long it will take you to process each article before quoting/bidding on this job.
There are approximately 2300 articles in total to be processed. We would prefer to receive bids/offers for the full job in its entirety rather than a per hour rate.
There is a 10 day deadline for the successful completion of the job, as the new website must be ready for the beginning of the UK academic year.
