We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Web Developer to join our project, The website is a comprehensive resource dedicated to self-sustainability and energy independence. Our platform is designed to primarily be a Drudge Report-style news aggregator as well as bringing together helpful calculators, and insightful guides on off-grid living, renewable energy, and much more.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in website design and development, particularly in RSS feed integration, and a passion for sustainability and energy independence. This project involves putting the final pieces together for our already initiated project, focusing on the RSS ingestion system and the design of the home page, feed page, and category pages.
Responsibilities:
Implement RSS feed ingestion from multiple sources into the website, ensuring timely updates and accurate article display.
Design and develop the homepage in a Drudge Report-style layout that efficiently organizes and presents news articles, calculators, and guides across various categories related to sustainability and energy independence.
Create engaging and user-friendly designs for feed and category pages that enhance user experience and facilitate easy navigation.
Work closely with the project team to understand and execute the vision for the site's aesthetics and functionality.
Ensure the website is responsive and optimized for performance across all devices and browsers.
Integrate calculators and interactive tools into the site, providing users with valuable resources for sustainability practices.
Implement SEO best practices to enhance the site's visibility and search rankings.
Provide technical support and maintenance post-launch to ensure ongoing stability and performance of the site.
Requirements:
Proven experience in web development and design, with a portfolio showcasing completed projects.
Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
Experience with RSS feed integration and management.
Knowledge of SEO principles and implementation.
Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
Passion for sustainability and making a positive impact in the field of energy independence.
Nice-to-Have:
Experience in designing news aggregator sites or similar projects.
Background knowledge or interest in sustainability, renewable energy, and self-sufficiency topics.
