Expected duration: Not sure We are a retail business currently using SAGE Line 50 (as well as SAGE Payroll and SAGE projects functionality). We are considering moving to Xero as we feel that it would be less clunky, easier to use and easier to integrate with our in-house bespoke system.
Sales process Once a customer has placed an order they pay a deposit. There is usually a 8-12 weeks gap between purchase orders being sent to suppliers in respect of the goods ordered by customers and the goods being received into our UK warehouse. Once the goods are received into our UK warehouse, customer balance payments are received and deliveries booked. Deliveries are made and the job is then complete. Our in-house bespoke system tracks this whole process - tracks deposits and balance payments, automatically sends purchase orders to suppliers, tracks confirmation of purchase orders, tracks goods in, deliveries etc. We want to be able to leverage the data in our in-house system as much as possible in terms of reducing manual input into any accounting software.
We need to manage and track profitability by customer order (this is key) and consider that Xero Projects will help us do this.
We currently have about 20k transactions per annum going through SAGE.
I would like to speak with someone who has an accounting background (and so understands double entry, company a/cs requirements) and also has experience of: 1) using both SAGE and Xero and able to highlight advantages & disadvantages 2) using Xero add ons like Xero Projects, Xero Payroll - there may be others you can recommend 3) using APIs with Xero (so that we can leverage the data from our in-house system and also push Xero data into our in-house system)
If we do decide to move to Xero then we will need assistance also in setting it up. We are looking to do this as soon as possible.
