I am an experienced software developer, but have zero experience with ROKU.
I am looking to build a "channel" which will aggregate content from several sources (various content sources/hosts as well). I have my own server for managing data for any JSON/XML files that may be needed.
Again, I know very little of ROKU except using it (and thinking that too many channels have bad UI).
I want to program it - BUT WITH your help. I need to learn how to use the tools (I am on a mac)
I need to learn how to design, manage data, handle search and favorites,
I am hoping, please tell me if this is possible in your response - that I can have some bit of dynamic layout possibly based on data returned...
My plan is to use my own webserver to create & manage data - categories, rss/mrss sources, images, whatever so that when the channel loads, it will pull from there to get videos from various platforms (vimeo, rumble?, youtube?, etc)
Please respond with your experience and perhaps any channels that you may have worked on and what you did.
