This project should requires you to design for the Cambridge Halls Academy School, envisioned as a modern, minimalistic, and accommodating facility with a phased construction approach. The six-story school building incorporates natural light and neutral colors, providing a calm and serene atmosphere. It features classrooms, offices, assembly halls, a library, canteen, accommodation, sports facilities, and other necessary amenities, with considerations for accessibility.
2. Design Features and Requirements:
2.1 Entrance and Reception: The reception area, inspired by contemporary hotels, is a high-ceilinged space equivalent to two floors with a mezzanine level. The entrance exhibits a glass wall extending across the height of the building, allowing natural light to flood the reception area. The design includes an exclusive entrance for student apartments.
2.2 Classrooms and Offices: The school building comprises classrooms and offices across each floor, with preschool areas situated on the ground floor. Specific floors incorporate libraries, assembly and exam rooms, and headmaster's office. A considerable portion of the first floor is reserved for a communal place and an assembly hall with a 60-100 person capacity.
2.3 Student Accommodation: The student accommodation is integrated into the school building but accessible only to the residents. It includes studio rooms with common kitchen and living areas per floor.
2.4 Amenities and Facilities: The design includes female, male, and disabled toilet facilities, cleaner's cupboards, a canteen, multi-religious/prayer room, and a large common area.
2.5 External Structure: The external structure will resemble a seamless part of the main building, regardless of the phased construction approach. The third floor will incorporate a sports/play area sectioned off by bi-folding floors, and the fourth floor will host classrooms, lecture rooms, and workshops.
3. Accessibility:
The design ensures accessibility for disabled persons through the inclusion of lifts throughout the entire building.
4. Phased Construction Approach:
The building construction is planned in phases, initially covering 2-3 floors with foundations suitable for supporting six stories. Each construction phase is designed to leave the building looking complete to ensure a coherent aesthetic appearance. Future phases will add additional floors, focusing on classrooms and other facilities, with minimal disruption to the existing structure.
5. Safety Considerations:
All design and construction activities will adhere to established safety standards, ensuring safe environments for students, staff, and visitors. This includes provisions for fire exits, AstroTurf sports area, science rooms located at the back of the building for safety, and a roof that is easily removable during the second construction phase.
The Cambridge Halls Academy School's design prioritizes creating a welcoming, contemporary environment that stimulates learning while considering the practical aspects of phased construction and accessibility.
Special notes: We need the project to be as cost efficient as possible, the drawing we provided are just the guideline. In order for us be cost efficient rooms such as science labs and kitchens/Cafeteria would be best situated over each other in different floor. To reduce the piping Network.
