I am making an on line CGT submission for the sale of a small rental flat and need advice on allowable expenses and what the 2 supporting documents allowed on the online system should look like.
The flat was empty and up for sale from Feburary '22 until November '22. During this time renovations were carried out, a kitchen extension done and a wet room added. Additional costs encountered for this 9 month period included water, power, council tax and maintenance charges. I think renovations (carried out between February and the end of March) would go on my self assessment for the period as expenses ( I have not yet submitted my SA for '21-'22 but it is ready to go) I think a kitchen extension and added wet room would be improvements and go onto the CGT declaration Are there any of the utility, maintenance and Council expenses while the flat was empty that I can claim for and how would this be done? I completed all work on the kitchen extension and wet room DIY. I am not a tradesperson but can I make any claim for the value of the work I did on the project?
