I am looking for some freelancers with a combination of Mandarin and marketing skills to help me with the following project.
I am an online English schools tutor based in Oxford, UK.
An increasing number of my clients are Chinese families because occasionally I am contacted by a Chinese agent through a UK tutoring website. I really enjoying meeting and helping these families. However, because my knowledge of Mandarin is currently limited to a few basic phrases I'm unable to reach out and find these kinds of clients in China myself. This is where I am hoping you might be able to help me and here is what I would be looking for you to do:
1) Find potential clients on:
i. websites where Chinese agents recruit foreign tutors on behalf of Chinese families ii. relevant social media platforms iii. bulletin boards iv. any other platforms you think might be relevant
My clients tend to fall into one of the following groups:
i. China-based families looking to apply to a UK school or university ii. China-based families with children at a British or international school iii. China-based families with children already in a UK school but needing extra support with the UK schools English curriculum. iv. China-based families looking for support with English language exams preparation such as IELTS or TOEFL. v. China-based families simply looking for additional English language exposure and practice via tutoring sessions.
These clients are usually disposed to pay fees at the top end of the tutoring market (450-500RMB per hour of teaching).
Your role therefore would be to:
i. identify these kinds of clients on the aforementioned platforms ii. post my profile and direct them to my website/social media iii. in response to interested clients, act as a contact point and a go-between for myself and the client until the first class is arranged.
For every client who agrees to continue with classes after the first lesson I would offer you a finder's fee equal to the fee the client pays me for the first class (somewhere in the region of £50-55). I am looking to take on 10-15+ clients initially and then others on an ongoing basis. This is why I have set the initial budget for this project at £500. If demand is high enough, I may even recruit other teachers so this could hopefully/potentially be very profitable for you.
2) There are also a few other translation and marketing-related tasks that I will need help with:
i. I am currently working with a web developer to design a website that targets this client demographic. If you have marketing/SEO experience and believe you can help with this process due to your understanding of the local market I would be happy to hear from you.
ii. To translate web content into Mandarin on an ongoing basis. This may include blogs, social media posts, and so on. Later, It might also include longer study guides, online courses or guides to UK schools and universities. I may also ask a developer to create a video explaining my services and processes, which would need a Mandarin voiceover.
iii. There may be other go-between work subsequent to this, depending on the client's English level, particularly if they are looking for information about applying for a UK school or university. We could perhaps agree fees for this on an ad hoc basis (but of course always for your sake up front before the work commences).
