I am a consultant forensics psychiatrist and YouTuber based in London - I assess mentally ill offenders in prison, in court, and in locked secure forensic psychiatric units. My YouTube channel – A Psych for Sore Minds - covers many aspects of my work and also has more general material about mental health and criminality. I release two videos every week. The channel has around 8.5k subs and is gradually growing.
I need somebody (MUST be based in the UK) to manage and promote the YouTube channel. Ideally, I would want to just make the content and would be involved in any major decisions for the channel. I would need you to be quite heavily involved in pretty much all other aspects. This is because I lack technical skills, and also am very busy with my day job. I would need somebody who is very proactive and available/responsive. There will likely be regular contact – possibly even daily - at least initially.
I already have an editor who would do the majority of the videos. However, your role might also involve some occasional minor basic editing (e.g. clips from other longer episodes).
Specific tasks would involve:
• Generally managing the channel, including uploading videos and updating the YT community tab. • Adding wording to thumbnails (already made by the editor) for each new episode. • YouTube SEO, episode titles, descriptions, tags. • Adding and correcting subtitles for each new episode. • Scheduling and aiding the video editing tracker spreadsheet. • Using initiative to constantly develop and promote the brand. • Regularly posting on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I have also very recently started making YouTube shorts. • Creating clips videos/trailers from episodes and working on YouTube shorts etc. • Keeping an active eye out on the competition (i.e. other media doctors / psychiatrists / psychologists / true crime channels) in view of emulating them and adapting our channel. • Reaching out to and communicating with potential guests and collaborators – this would involve regularly searching for appropriate people and relatively high volumes of emails. • Managing our joint email account (e.g. talking to potential guests, or requests from viewers or anybody else who contacts us). • Managing a joint google drive (e.g. keeping it tidy and making material easy to find for editors, etc) • Helping me to eventually get sponsorship. Currently, everything is coming from my own pocket. • Staying in regular touch with me and keeping me updated. • Some creative feedback – e.g. what you think works well for the channel and what I should change. I’m always open to improving and am not precious about constructive criticism. • Helping me with the longer-term strategy, such as paid advertising.
Payment is negotiable. As well as fixed monthly fee (paid in advance), I would also offer 50% of Adsense revenue of the channel (to be re-negotiated after 6 months).
You have to be UK based, and ideally have experience of YouTube channel promotion.
