Ideal Personality I like people who are open-minded, positive, and enthusiastic. That said, I love bouncing ideas off of good engineers who are rational and can challenge me when there’s a better way of doing things. I’m looking for engineers who consider themselves craftsmen and builders, engineers who love trying out the latest and greatest tools but also have restraint so they don’t over-engineer or over-complicate, and lastly, engineers who have an appreciation of business needs.
Ideal Skills Note: Just because you don’t have familiarity with each of these doesn’t disqualify you from the job. I may end up hiring separate people for the frontend and backend.
Front-End Ability to traverse the DOM of existing webpages with ease (i.e. you are good with QuerySelector()) Familiarity with building Chrome Extensions Familiarity with TailwindCSS Familiarity with localization
Back-End Thorough knowledge and experience with creating performant REST APIs Thorough knowledge and experience with GoLang, Python, or NodeJS Thorough knowledge and experience with Postgres Familiarity with Stripe Familiarity with Firebase Auth
Commitment 20-40 hours/week...looking for long-term partnership ideally.
--------About Me--------
I love making super-fast and easy-to-use software that users love. I’ve worked in startups and technology for over 10 years. I’ve worked as a designer and product manager at small startups and large tech companies, so I’m skilled at working with and communicating with engineers. I believe in doing as much work as I can to make the engineer’s life as easy as possible so they can create the best product in the shortest amount of time. I'm looking to build, test, and launch several products in the coming months.
--------The Trial Interview Exercise --------
Overview If you are selected to interview, you will have two options to choose from for your interview exercise. You will be paid your hourly rate for your time but let's first discuss the exercise before beginning any work.
**Not interested in working with agencies at the moment**
Note: I'd like the projects we work on to be confidential, so please do not post them on peopleperhour, personal/professional websites, or LinkedIn without asking me for permission first. If you have questions let me know!
