Note that the handle is sold in 4 different combinations KM750, KM760, KM780 and KM790
All use the same basic handle design
For simplicity, we will be using the part number KM750
Basically we are taking all the dimensions of the present design and upgrading the product and removing all the trouble areas.
Issues with the current design
1.Base plate is a laser cut aluminium plate and when fitted to SS deposits a white residue after a few weeks of being fitted. 2. Concealed fixing into the back plate requires steel inserts that tend to turn in the plate when tightening up 3. Complicated spring arrangement – problematic. 4. Park position of lever not always correct due to the internal bush in the handle stem turning inside the tube
Considerations
1. Normally fitted to very heavy door assemblies and required to lift the whole weight of the door when moving into slide action. 2. Spring Cassette needs to operate with a 4 position stop action 12 o’clock, 3,6 and 9
Features to build into the new design
1. Back plate to be machine from a solid 304 stainless bar 2. Use a separate spring cassette – Drawings marked ‘Assemspring cassette’ show details. Also, check file ‘Trade Plate Drawings’ this shows the machine detail we have done for a similar design. 3.The back plate also needs to incorporate a rubber ‘o’ ring around the edge to retain the cover plate in place. – More details of this can be supplied if required. 4. The lever is to be manufactured in solid bar and requires the 10mm square drive honed out of the centre – Note 30 mm depth is the limit when it comes to honing, so top end will have to have a clearance hole bored through 5. Drawings of the original design are in the DB marked BP-KM750-316-SSS
This is some initial instructions, no doubt there will be more detail to discuss, but should be enough to make a start.
