Our need:
We need an experienced, performance-oriented WordPress consultant to review our website and hosting and help us optimize our page speed and performance. We are looking for both front end and back end developer, with a strong knowledge of responsive and optimized design and development. You should be familiar with different themes, page builders, and plugins.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing whether we are operating on the best possible server configuration and if we are getting the most out of our hosting package - Finding what framework / theme is best for us based on our website’s needs but having the performance in mind - Optimizing the page performance and speed; cleaning up unused scripts and CSS, optimizing images and help the overall site to work at best capacity
Required Skills:
- Understanding of the following technologies HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP - Extensive experience with optimizing WordPress sites - Focus on page speed expert in Google page speed insights best practices - Familiar with the server / hosting side of things (we use A2 hosting and cloudflare) - Experience in working with OptimizePress, Elementor, Brizy and the Gutenberg editors - Deep understanding of WordPress platform, themes, plugins and their interactions - Strong understanding of responsive web design techniques - Great attention to detail, highly organized
Compensation: Depending on the skill set.
Project Type: One-time project, or ongoing, if both sides are satisfied.
Questions:
1) Provide us with at least 2 websites where you did website optimization, and where page speed insights metric score is above 90 for both mobile and desktop. 2) Which page builders are you familiar with? Based on your experience make a recommendation based on page speed and usability. 3) Compare Brizy and Elementor with the Gutenberg editor. Why is one better than the other? Focus on speed and usability. 4) What tools/strategy would you use to establish whether the hosting company is delivering the promised level of service or not? 5) What is the best way to improve page first load speed?
