We have had a audio streaming service running for quite a number of years. It uses icecast, ices, and various libraries like libshout. We have also a program written in Perl that schedules audio programs in time slots and harvests programs from RSS feeds. This should all run without modification once we get the icecast server running with the ices interface. We need to stream mp3 content.
We had to move the system to a new linux node due to to the requirements of our hosting service. This requires that you are adept at compiling libraries and linking from source. You will be logging into the server using SSH.
I would be interested if there are other options for hosting this. I have heard that ubuntu now has icecast as a standard feature. Do you know if this can be hosted on AWS, for example? Right now, we use a traditional VPS server.
I am in Pacific time zone. Please plan to timeshift so at least 4 hours are overlapping if you work in another time zone.
