There is currently a fully functional scraper which uses the Scrapy framework to monitor several RSS feeds and websites for news content and then displays this news content on an HTML page to create a newsfeed. The project manager will give more details on the exact functionality when the project commences and the developer will have full access to the source code at this time.
This project consists of one milestone:
Fix 20 bugs in the original code.
There are screenshots of some of the bugs, along with additional notes, and flowcharts on how Scrapy functions, all of which will be provided when the project commences. The project manager is also available to conduct an online video chat and use the share screen feature to explain the project in more detail if needed. The project manager will also be available throughout the project to answer any questions or explain the tasks in more detail.
As the bugs will be fixed in a sandbox environment first before the fixes are rolled out to the production version, a spreadsheet will be used to keep track of all files which are changed for each bug.
All of the bugs should be able to be fixed by simply making modifications to the existing code, but if for some reason the freelance developer needs to create a new piece of code or rewrite an existing code these are also available options.
